Whoever said hard work beats talent was right! One Brooklyn, NY native proved that not only hard work, but talent along with patience would give him the offer he deserved.
Isiah Deas ‘16 first attended Bishop Loughlin HS (NY), then transferred to Thomas Jefferson HS (NY) for his senior year. Deas, a 6-6 wing, flourished at Jefferson on the court, improving on his shooting and rebounding skills.
After Jefferson HS, the Class of 2016 player made the decision to attend the post-grad school Coastal Academy (NJ). At Coastal Academy Deas found more time to focus on getting stronger.
During the summer months Deas played with Born Ready Elite travel team. The coach of Born Ready Elite, Hasani Stewart, spoke about Deas’s recent commitment with pride. “Isiah has signed his financial aid agreement with LaSalle University. He starts summer school tomorrow at LaSalle University. I’m excited about it! He put in a lot of hard work”
Stewart then thanked Deas former coaches and all of the colleges that recruited him. “We would like to thank all of the coaches that were recruiting him. They did a phenomenal job. And I like to give a special thanks to Lawrence “Bud” Pollard of Jefferson HS, Ed Gonzalez of Bishop Loughlin HS, and Ian Turnbull of Coastal Academy.”
Before making his final school choice Deas held offers from Hofstra, Quinnipiac, Loyola Marymount University, UT Chattanooga, Cal Bakersfield, and Vermont.
