Ronald Jefferson Steps Up in the 2nd Half

Playaz Spring Fling 17U Pool Play – Born Ready Elite vs New Jersey Soldiers

April 2, 2016

I caught a competitive opening round pool play game between Born Ready Elite (Brooklyn) and the New Jersey Soldiers. Despite being undersized up front, Born Ready Elite was very quick defensively and attacking the basket in transition. They would go on for a hard fought victory behind impressive games from Isiah Deas (2016), Jordan William (2017), and Ronald Jefferson (2016). Jefferson, a combo guard from Christ the King, scored 11 points and had a couple of nice assists. The Soldiers were led by 6-2 guard True Alton (2017), who is a good shooter from the perimeter.

Standouts:

Isiah Deas (2016) – Deas, a former Jefferson player now at Coastal Academy, was impressive scoring from all three-levels. Despite having a thin frame, he is in the 6-4/6-5 range and a super explosive leaper attacking the basket.

Jordan Williams (2018) – Playing up an age level, Williams impacted the game with his strength and athleticism on the perimeter.
