All cylinders were clicking Saturday evening for the York College Panthers as they cruised to a 121-113 victory. The Panthers scored 72 first half points on 56% from the field including 55% from behind the arc. Remi Mignott led all scorers with 29 points but not far behind was Mike Buffalo with 28 on 11-16 FGS, 8 Rebs, 3 Asts and 3 Stls and Andre Vaughn with 27. Heyvis Jackson would contribute 19 points and Dylan Brewer would have 15 to go along with his 13 assists and 7 rebounds.
A 25 point half time lead made it difficult for the Panthers to keep the momentum rolling into the second as the legs got tired and Haskell started to trim away at the lead. It was only a matter of time before the Panthers hit the century mark but baskets didn’t come nearly as easy in the second half. York maintained the lead throughout but some big shots down the stretch by Haskell made this game a lot closer than it really was.
Coach Delton Deal was pleased with his players and was glad to have such a great offensive show on senior night. York had seven seniors playing in their final home game of the season and let them play as much as they wanted. “I really wanted to let these guys have some fun and take it all in on their final night in front of a home crowd. We pushed the speed into high gear and the guys really stepped it up. The fans gave these guys everything they could after a night like this. I’m really proud of our seniors and am glad we were able to end their home career with a game like this one.”
