R.I.P to Darryl “Wilt” Adams

It is with great regret that we announce the passing of one the members of our Raising Champions family. Darryl, joined the program last year and was performing well both in the classroom and on the court playing in the IS8 Spring Classic, Spring Fling, Providence Jamfest, Playaz Tune-UP and NERR Memorial Day Super 16 Showcase before being injured in a senseless attack in June 2011.

This episode, however did not stop Darryl. He worked hard to recover from his injures and successfully completed summer school. In September 2011 Darryl returned to the court and competed in the IS8 Fall Classic with his Raising Champions brothers and The Beacon Pre-Season tournament with his high school team.

Although, he successfully completed his required classes during summer school. Darryl, was still not eligible to compete for Thomas Edison High School during the 2011-2012 Basketball Season. Nevertheless, he was still motivated and determined to make the best out of this situation. By competing in practice and supporting his peers from the sidelines while still continuing to show improvement in the classroom.

Darryl was making strides academically to return to the court and compete for Thomas Edison during his upcoming senior year. He was also looking forward to competing during the 2012 spring and summer aau season to gain some exposure and recognition from college coaches and scouts. He wanted to earn an athletic scholarship to college and now he’s robbed of that opportunity. We love you Darryl, you’ll Always be apart of our Family. Rest In Peace
