Raising Champions had a superb showing in the game NYChoops.net watched the squad. Although the team fell 68-60 to Hoop Heaven Heat, the performance of Marquise Moore, Kevin Coyle, Davon Baker, and Will Davis did not go unnoticed.
Marquise Moore, a 6-foot class of 2012 guard out of Holy Cross (NY) was the leading scorer for Raising Champions, tallying 17. He was able to get to the basket off the bounce and finish at the rim.
South Side (NY) 6-foot-2 guard Kevin Coyle was impressive with his ability to knock down 3-point shots. He drained four from beyond the arc and also hit both of his free throws en route to finishing with 16 points. Coyle, a 2012 prospect, was one of the top shooters in the event.
Cavon Baker of NIA Prep (NJ) did a quality job in a number of areas for Raising Champions. The 6-foot-1 class of 2012 guard had 12 points, but was also able to run the offense and distribute the basketball. His ability to find the open man and get him the rock was key in the team’s showing.
Finally, another 2012 guard out of Holy Cross, 6-foot-2 Will Davis, was solid for Raising Champions too. Like Coyle, he showed that he can hit shots from deep, connecting on three attempts from beyond the arc. Davis finished with 10 points in the game and also was solid all-around.
